MidFirst Bank is seeking an experienced attorney to join our Legal Department as Assistant General Counsel, supporting high-impact litigation matters and advising business partners across commercial and consumer banking. In this role, you will help shape litigation strategy for a leading privately held bank while also providing practical, business-forward counsel on lending, deposit products, private banking, trust/wealth services, and select employment-related matters. You will collaborate closely with leaders across the Bank, partner with other in-house attorneys, and manage outside counsel to drive strong outcomes and reduce risk.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute litigation strategies to minimize legal exposure and protect the Bank’s interests
- Manage a portfolio of litigation matters, including reviewing pleadings, discovery, motions, and settlement documentation
- Advise management on resolution options; participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and negotiations, as appropriate
- Select, direct, and oversee outside counsel, including budgeting, performance expectations, and matter management
- Create and deliver trainings for business units, as needed, and stay current on legal and industry developments impacting the Bank
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; strong academic credentials preferred
- Active membership in good standing with the Oklahoma state bar association (or ability to obtain promptly, as applicable)
- 5+ years of legal experience with meaningful litigation experience; banking, mortgage servicing, financial services, and/or commercial lending experience preferred
- Strong legal and business judgment, with the ability to balance business objectives and legal risk
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; discretion with sensitive and confidential information
- Exceptional organization and attention to detail; ability to manage a broad portfolio of matters and priorities
- Self-directed, collaborative, and intellectually curious, with a practical approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment
Work Location & Travel
This position is on-site in Oklahoma City. Some travel may be required.
