Job Description

Corporate Associate — Boston, MA | Denver, CO

About the Opportunity We are partnering with a well-regarded boutique law firm in Boston to place a midlevel corporate associate. The firm has a distinctive mission: startup client work actively funds social justice initiatives, and the team is built around mission alignment as much as legal excellence. Their client base flows largely through the Harvard/MIT graduate school ecosystem, with a focus on venture-backed tech companies at various stages. The firm currently has one attorney who practices full-time as a public interest litigator.

About the Role The associate will work primarily with venture-backed technology startups on transactional and advisory matters, including corporate governance, financings, commercial agreements, and commercial contracts — with the potential to handle some trademark and IP licensing work as well.

Location The firm's primary office is in Boston, MA, with one partner based in Denver, CO. The firm is open to candidates in either market. Candidates outside of Boston or Denver will not be considered.

Compensation

  • Base salary: $150,000+, commensurate with experience
  • Performance bonus paid once the firm receives approximately 2x the associate's costs — typically around 900 hours of work

Work Schedule & Culture

  • 4 days per week in-office, 1 day remote
  • Four fully remote weeks each summer (late July through late August)
  • Unlimited vacation from day one — most team members take 3–6 weeks annually, plus sick days and personal time
  • No billable hours requirement — availability expectation of 30–50 hours per week as needed

What Makes This Firm Unique

  • Mission-driven model: startup revenue directly funds public interest and social justice work
  • No billable hours mandate — meaningful work-life structure built into the culture
  • Boutique environment with sophisticated, growth-stage clients
  • Collaborative, low-politics culture

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of corporate transactional experience, ideally with startup or venture-backed clients
  • Strong foundation in corporate governance, financings, and commercial agreements
  • Trademark/IP licensing experience a plus
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Boston or Denver — no other markets considered
