Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Commercial Real Estate Transactional Attorney to join our prestigious legal team in-house. Reporting directly to the EVP and General Counsel, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-level transactional activities within the commercial real estate sector. As a key member of our legal department, the VP of Legal Transactions will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our business strategy, focusing on the acquisition and disposition of open-air shopping centers and handling a variety of complex real estate matters. Key Responsibilities
- Proactively manage and execute sophisticated real estate acquisitions and dispositions on a “first-chair” basis.
- Address and resolve condemnation actions, title matters, easements, rights of way, environmental issues, subdivisions, REAs, and restrictive covenant matters.
- Negotiate and draft transactional documents with precision, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
- Provide expert legal counsel and support to various departments within the company.
- Maintain a collaborative relationship with internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives, legal peers, and external counsel.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a leading law school with a proven record of academic excellence.
- A minimum of 5 years of transactional and commercial real estate experience with a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal team.
- Retail and shopping center experience is required.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage and close complex real estate transactions.
- Leadership and management experience preferred, with a focus on fostering team development and collaboration.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, with a proven track record of managing high-pressure situations and diverse workloads.
