JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Tribe, Palm Springs, CA, seeks a qualified Tribal Court Reporter to record by stenographic means, the proceedings at Tribal Council Meetings, Annual Tribal Meeting, Study Sessions, or other meetings as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)
- Produce verbatim of assigned meetings.
- Produce minutes of the Tribal Council meetings and Annual Tribal meetings
- Securely maintain original minutes and original notes and tapes
- Upon the request of any Tribal Member, prepare verbatim transcripts of any requested item or meeting
- Upon the request of any Tribal member or Department Head, search original minutes for action on specific topics
- Must comply with all applicable internal controls, standard operating procedures and Tribal Regulations. Documents and reports all exceptions/variations/deviations immediately upon awareness.

SIGNATORY ABILITY

EDUCATION and/or SKILLS
- High school diploma required
- Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) License preferred or two years of court reporting experience or high speed (200) level student from a certified court reporting school.
- Ability to transcribe and read stenographic output as needed through computer aided transcription software
- Must possess excellent organizational skills and able to prioritize, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision and multiple interruptions, exercise judgment and adapt instructions/directions from one assignment to another.
- Must have good PC skills with intermediate ability to use MS Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong English both written and verbal communication skill set.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a minimum of 25 lbs. on an intermittent basis, and sufficient dexterity of hand in order to use office equipment including, but not limited to: a stenographic machine, computer keyboard, calculator, and general office equipment.
To perform this job successfully, the individual must me able to stand, move and work throughout the office area and properties, including walking up to 1 ½ miles, climbing stairs and sitting at a desk/work station for the duration of the shift.
Typically the individual will be housed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may escalate during times of renovation or repairs.
