POSITION SUMMARY

Under moderate supervision, the Legal Assistant position will provide mid-to-high level administrative support to designated attorneys, paralegals and to the Firm.  As a member of a professional support staff team, this position will also promote and maintain the good will and reputation of the Firm and maintain the highest level of professional conduct and confidentiality.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Provide specific legal assistant support for several attorneys in litigation.
  • Collect client information, opposing party information, and conflict-check details.
  • Review and edit pleadings, discovery and correspondence for clients and/or firm development.
  • Track court deadlines, hearing dates, discovery cutoffs, and filing deadlines.
  • Maintain attorney calendars for depositions, mediations, and trial preparation.
  • Assist with trial preparations.
  • Coordinate electronic filing through PACER (various districts and states), as well as local courts.
  • Support other attorneys as a back-up when other legal assistants are out of the office.
  • Support document review and redaction processes.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Diploma is required. Associates or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years administrative support experience required, and 5+ years in administrative support preferred.   

Computer Skills: Skilled with MS Office Suite and other office products.

Certificates & Licenses:

Other Requirements: Excellent written and oral communication skills (comprehension & expression). Strong command of the English language, including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, form and style. Detail-oriented and ability to create, compose, proof and edit correspondence. Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures and maintain confidentiality of records and information.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment is in a professional office setting. The majority of activity this role performs will be sedentary work.
