- Position Description
The Court Clerk performs a variety of clerical duties and provides administrative support to the Harris County Justice of the Peace and Justice Court.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Receive and process citations, complaints, petitions, affidavits, applications, or information instituting a cause of action and enter information in the court's case management software.
- Perform extensive data entry and scanning.
- Monitor cases, set cases for the appropriate dockets, and notify parties of upcoming court dates.
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of Odyssey Case Management System functionality.
- Review and interpret orders signed by the judge to determine next actions.
- Serve as a point of contact with defendants, plaintiffs, attorneys, court personnel, law enforcement, interested parties, and the general public regarding the status, disposition, and pending actions of cases.
- Assist the public in person, by phone, or by email regarding the status, disposition, or pending actions on court cases.
- Prepares summons, warrants, and issue civil citations, eviction citations, subpoenas, and writs.
- Perform cashier duties, and responsible for balancing end of day totals.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned by the judge and department supervisors.
- The ability to work well with other staff members and the public.
- Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.

- All applicants must register and take theHRT Clerical Skills Test and score a minimum score of 90% and a typing speed of 40 w.p.m with a 90% accuracy.

- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Minimum of two (2) years of clerical or customer service work experience.
- Basic computer skills including proficiency in the use of MS Office software, such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Detail oriented and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be punctual, dependable and have the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to work well with other staff members and the public.
- Must demonstrate professionalism and maintain confidentiality when required.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Must be able to work overtime without prior notification including correcting problems after normal business hours.
- No prior felony conviction.

- $20.00 - $22.00 Hourly
Depends on Qualifications
Based on 26 pay periods
Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
