Job Description

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage civil litigation matters from inception through trial, verdict, and appeal.
  • Conduct case evaluations and develop strategic litigation plans.
  • Handle all aspects of discovery, including written discovery and depositions.
  • Prepare, draft, and argue motions, including dispositive motions and Motions in Limine.
  • Draft pleadings, legal memoranda, discovery responses, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze applicable statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Represent clients at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and trials.
  • Interview clients, witnesses, and experts while maintaining thorough case documentation.
  • Coordinate expert witness retention, preparation, and testimony.
  • Provide clients with regular case updates, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations.
  • Monitor legal developments and advise clients on potential impacts to ongoing matters.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, advocacy, and client service.
Required Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • Minimum of 8 years of civil litigation defense experience.
  • Significant experience handling matters through all stages of litigation, including appeals.
  • Proven ability to independently manage a complex caseload.
Trial Experience Requirements

Candidates must have served as first-chair counsel in:

  • At least 6 jury trials taken to verdict in California State Superior Court.
  • At least 3 bench trials taken to verdict in California State Superior Court.

Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid position based in Fullerton, California. New hires are expected to work on-site during the first two weeks of employment for onboarding and training. Following this period, the role may be performed on a hybrid basis, with periodic in-office meetings and court appearances as required.

Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the office and be available for in-person court appearances.

Compensation

Competitive base salary ranging from $200,000 to $250,000, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and demonstrated trial success.
