Position Overview: The Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), Office of Inspector General is seeking to hire a Paralegal Assistant for the Office of Counsel to the Inspector General (OCIG). Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Counsel, the Paralegal Assistant will, among other things, review and revise legal documents before filing and service; maintain and update legal files, as necessary; serve as OCIG’s outward-facing liaison to external parties; respond to routine legal inquiries and correspondence from internal stakeholders; assist with reviewing legislation and administrative regulations proposed by HFS and state legislators; and conduct special projects, as needed. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within law firm, legal department, or a quality-improvement or compliance-focused organization, including an office of inspector general; have familiarity with other health-centric state and federal regulatory agencies; is comfortable working with the public in a customer-service role; be comfortable with working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment; and possess a willingness to help.
