Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to provide specialized legal advice and services as an attorney within the Air Force Judge Advocate General Corps. The incumbent provides legal advice and support to The Judge Advocate General, the Civil Law Directorate, the Environmental Law and Litigation Division, and the Environmental Law Field Support Center. Issues addressed relate to environmental law, particularly the area of environmental restoration.
Duties Serves as Chief, Restoration Branch of the Environmental Law Field Support Center, overseeing the work of seven attorneys and one paralegal. Incumbent gives legal advice and provides legal opinions on questions involving complex environmental restoration under any relevant statute or regulation, including, but not limited to the Defense Environmental Restoration Program (DERP), the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), and the Solid Waste Disposal Act (SWDA or RCRA) to Air Force elements. As the Air Force's primary expert on matters involving environmental restoration, the incumbent continually buiIds upon that expertise and ensures that the benefits of that expertise and experience are shared with other Air Force attorneys and with DoD as a whole. As subject matter expert, assists the Air Force Environmental Litigation Center as needed on environmental, occupational safety and health, cultural and natural resources, and real property related litigation and administrative proceedings before Federal, state, or regulatory venues. Salary- $148,633 - $193,222/year
