Role Description Summary

You will work as a Legal Counsel and generally be responsible for:

  • Conducting due diligence on funding opportunities
  • Providing advice and recommendations about funding matters
  • Providing ongoing management of funded matters
  • Research on legal and other issues
  • Preparing information on litigation finance-related topics


Key Role Responsibilities

The role requires you to undertake a broad range of duties, such as:

  • Conducting due diligence on prospective funding opportunities (including analyzing financial and legal issues, communicating directly with claimants and their counsel, and conducting factual investigations)
  • Assisting Investment Managers in the preparation and negotiation of term sheets
  • Providing recommendations as to the appropriateness of funding matters and preparing and presenting submissions to the Investment Committee
  • Meeting and speaking with lawyers/law firms to discuss litigation finance generally
  • Managing funded cases by maintaining client and lawyer communications, monitoring case progress and developments, conferring on strategic issues, considering settlement issues, and managing litigation fees and expenses;
  • Conducting general research on legal, strategic, and other issues as requested
  • Preparing submissions, articles, blogs, and PowerPoint presentations on litigation finance-related topics and assisting Investment Managers with some aspects of their business development activities


Required Education

  • a J.D. and 6 or more years of litigation experience
  • Superior academic credentials
