Location: Long Island (Uniondale), NY (Hybrid opportunity) Description: Harris Beach Murtha seeks a mid-level lateral litigation and compliance attorney to counsel and represent health care facilities and practitioners and other entities and individuals in the health care industry with respect to regulatory compliance, audits, investigations, clinical operations, and business operations matters. The ideal candidate must have a working knowledge in business and regulatory aspects of health care law including Stark, Anti-Kickback, HIPAA, fraud and abuse, compliance, medical staff matters and reimbursement issues. The Health Care Associate will have the opportunity to: Conduct legal research and collaborate with senior attorneys on strategy Work on government (Medicare and Medicaid) and commercial payer audits and investigations Work on Medicare and Medicaid fraud investigations by federal and State government agencies Create compliance programs for health care providers, suppliers, and managed care plans Draft and revise compliance policies and procedures Analyze records and transactions related to business disputes and investigations as to potential client claims Structure, negotiate, and draft contracts and other business arrangements Advise clients on a wide range of compliance and health regulatory matters The firm requires a minimum of 1800 billable hours annually Applications are encouraged and desired if you have: 3-5+ years’ experience in health care and regulatory and/or compliance Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school Admission to NYS bar (or ability to waive in) Admission to New Jersey, Connecticut and/or Massachusetts bar (preferred) Exceptionally strong writing skills are required Excellent verbal communication skills Demonstrated high level organizational skills for prioritizing workload Demonstrated ability to absorb, process and understand, new information rapidly Ability to manage competing priorities Ability to maintain high standards of performance Ability to exhibit conscientiousness, dedication, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility A professional, cooperative, positive and flexible attitude Ability to work with diverse personalities within various levels of the organization Military experience welcome Salary information below will vary depending upon relevant experience for the position and geographic locations.
