Head of Legal

Scope of Position

Brale's focus is on creating technology that brings down the barriers to deploying regulated digital assets. As we continue to expand our operations, we seek a Head of Legal to lead our legal strategy and ensure compliance across all aspects of our business. This role will be crucial in supporting Brale's mission of empowering others to create regulated stablecoins while navigating the complex regulatory landscape of digital assets.

The Head of Legal will be responsible for managing all legal affairs, overseeing contract negotiations, maintaining vendor relationships, and providing strategic legal counsel to the executive team. They will play a critical role in protecting Brale's interests while enabling rapid but compliant growth in the dynamic stablecoin and digital asset space.

Responsibilities & Principal Job DutiesLegal Strategy & Operations

• Develop and implement Brale's legal strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements

• Lead and manage all contract negotiations, including customer agreements, vendor contracts, and strategic partnerships

• Oversee the company's intellectual property portfolio and strategy

• Build and maintain relationships with extensive external counsel and legal service providers

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

• Guide the company through regulatory requirements related to stablecoins and digital assets

• Develop and implement compliance programs and policies

• Monitor and analyze regulatory developments in relevant jurisdictions

• Assess and manage legal risks across all business operations

Business Partnership & Advisory

• Provide strategic legal counsel to the CEO and executive team on business decisions and corporate strategy

• Partner with product and engineering teams to ensure legal compliance in product development

• Support business development initiatives with legal expertise and guidance

• Lead due diligence processes for potential partnerships and strategic initiatives

Team Leadership & Development

• Build and lead the legal team as the company grows

• Establish legal processes and best practices across the organization

• Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, partners, and industry groups

• Provide training and guidance to internal teams on legal matters and compliance requirements

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of legal experience, with significant experience in financial technology, digital assets, or banking

• Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks governing stablecoins, digital assets, and financial services

• Proven track record of managing complex contract negotiations and vendor relationships

• Strong business acumen and ability to balance legal risks with business objectives

• Experience building and leading legal teams in high-growth environments

• Outstanding communication skills and ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders

• High level of ethics and integrity

• Experience working with or for financial regulators is a plus

• Knowledge of blockchain technology
