About the Role:
We’re looking for a smart, creative, and business-minded Consumer Protection Counsel to join our legal team. In this role, you’ll be the go-to legal partner for our marketing team and our dynamic network of affiliate and influencer marketers. You’ll help ensure that all marketing campaigns and promotional efforts comply with U.S. consumer protection laws while being just as comfortable advising on FTC guidelines as you are developing engaging, memorable training content.
This is a highly visible, cross-functional role ideal for someone who thrives on variety, collaboration, and turning complex rules into clear, actionable guidance.
At HighLevel, we believe legal can be a strategic advantage—not just a safeguard. You’ll have a seat at the table, a voice in the room, and the chance to help shape how we grow responsibly. If you’re excited to bring legal savvy to creative campaigns and empower marketers to innovate with confidence, we’d love to meet you.
What You'll Do:
    • Serve as the lead legal advisor for all marketing campaigns and brand initiatives.
    • Provide expert guidance on FTC advertising rules, influencer disclosures, and marketing claim substantiation.
    • Advise on TCPA, CAN-SPAM, state marketing laws, and data privacy considerations for outbound marketing.
    • Support and monitor influencer and affiliate marketing programs to ensure compliant messaging and disclosures.
    • Review and help structure sweepstakes, giveaways, and promotional contests, ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
    • Create and deliver engaging training materials and live presentations for internal teams and affiliate partners.
    • Collaborate closely with marketing, product, compliance, customer success, and external counsel.
    • Manage and own policies and internal playbooks related to consumer marketing compliance.
    • Stay current on legal trends and enforcement activity in the digital marketing and consumer protection space.
What You’ll Bring:
    • J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in the U.S.
    • 8+ years of legal experience, with a strong focus on consumer protection law, especially FTC regulations.
    • Deep familiarity with TCPA, CAN-SPAM, UDAP laws, and privacy rules related to marketing.
    • Experience advising on influencer marketing, affiliate relationships, and user-generated content.
    • Strong working knowledge of the legal frameworks around sweepstakes and contests.
    • Exceptional communication skills—you can explain legal nuance without legalese.
    • A flair for storytelling and training—you can keep a room’s attention and make compliance stick.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, scaling SaaS environment.
    • A practical mindset with a strong bias toward action, creative problem-solving, and measurable results.
    • Highly organised, great at managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • Strong team player who loves to collaborate across legal and non-legal teams.
Bonus Points:
    • Experience working in-house at a tech or SaaS company.
    • Prior work advising high-growth marketing or creator teams.
    • Knowledge of international marketing and privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CASL) is a plus.
Equal Employment Opportunity Information:
