Position Summary:
Brooks Building Solutions is seeking a knowledgeable and business-minded Corporate Counsel to manage legal risk and lead contract-related processes across the company. This in-house role will oversee the legal needs of the company, including contract review and negotiation, lien enforcement, and serve as the liaison between Brooks, our attorneys, our clients, subcontractors, and vendors.

The ideal candidate will have experience in construction contracts and lien law in the jurisdictions in which we operate. They will also be able to develop and implement internal legal processes that support compliance and scalable growth with a practical, solutions-oriented approach.

Compensation: $135,000–$165,000. Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, redline, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including customer agreements, subcontractor agreements, and vendors/suppliers’ terms and conditions.
  • Serve as the internal point of contact for contracts—removing leadership from daily legal back-and-forth.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel to manage contract redlines, mitigate risk, and accelerate review process.
  • Develop and oversee lien management and enforcement processes, including tracking deadlines, sending notices, and filing liens to protect collection rights. Liaise with collection efforts for non-lienable customers if they are significantly past due.
  • Review and negotiate lease agreements, amendments, and renewals.
  • Communicate critical contract terms to internal project teams to ensure compliance and avoid risk in the field.
  • Establish and implement standard internal processes for contract review, lien filings, and risk evaluation.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to make go/no-go decisions based on a practical understanding of risk vs. reward.
  • Work with Vice President of People Operations to help oversee and monitoring HR legal compliance.
Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate, construction, or commercial contract law.
  • Experience with Florida lien laws and enforcement in the construction industry
  • Familiarity with construction project lifecycle, vendor contract terms and conditions, lease agreements, etc.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills—able to work with both legal teams and operational staff
  • Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives and build scalable internal systems
