Legal Coordinator
The Legal Coordinator is a position that revolves around working with attorneys and paralegals to assist in managing appearances for legal proceedings, including motions, arbitration hearings, Court appearances, and depositions. You will perform various coordinating tasks, primarily focusing on the litigation calendar but with additional administrative responsibilities. It is a position that requires poise and professionalism in handling last-minute needs. The Legal Coordinator has direct interaction with clients, attorneys, vendors, witnesses, and Court personnel throughout the day, including on the phone and via email. To succeed in this role, you should have excellent time management and communication skills, as you will collaborate with clients and internal teams to address the calendar needs of staff counsel.
Responsibilities:
Support the paralegals in scheduling/confirming depositions and court appearances
Review, edit and adjust the litigation calendar
Communicate in writing and verbally with attorneys, witnesses, and clients to schedule or confirm appearances
Draft legal documents and pleadings, including deposition notices, subpoenas, authorizations, motions, and certifications
Organize and manage files, documents, and exhibits
File legal documents with federal and state courts
Requirements:
College Degree (4yr preferred)
Legal/law firm experience preferred with the litigation or insurance defense The candidates must possess excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills, and the ability to multitask.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel and spreadsheet analysis
Schedule: Full-Time; Mondays – Fridays, 8:30am-5pm
Location: Detroit, MI
Compensation: $60,000-$70,000 annually based on experience
