Tommy’s is looking for a Director of Legal / General Counsel to lead all aspects of legal and compliance documentation and services to the company. This role will provide strategic guidance, consultation, and support to the executive team and department leaders on a comprehensive range of legal and associated issues and documentation both on the franchising side and internal business operations.

Position Responsibilities:
- Serve as first response on all legal claims against the company and creating the strategy to respond
- Represent company in legal communications and hearings
- Manage all IP and trademarks, including internationally
- Help draft and oversee all internal business documents including purchase agreements for product customers, vendor agreements, area development agreements for real estate, HR employment agreements, etc.
- Oversee and approve franchise agreements and related exhibits, franchise documentation and compliance
- Draft new templates and unique agreements as needed in all areas of the business
- Oversee updating and annual filing of the FDD and other legal documents with franchise administration team
- Partner with franchise operations team on a compliance process to keep franchise operators in line with franchise agreements
- Support real estate acquisition by drafting purchase agreements, reviewing title work and easements, negotiating extensions, etc.
- Proactively engage with department leaders and functions to identify and manage risks to protect company assets
- Manage external attorney network – international franchise attorneys, IP / trademark attorneys, litigation partners, etc.

Position Qualifications & Candidate Attributes:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Vast experience drafting and reviewing various types of legal documentation and agreements; experience with franchising documentation strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of IP / trademark law including internationally
- Technical savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Process-oriented and strong collaborator with ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and across various departments
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask and prioritize workload
- Highly adaptable with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills; ability to exercise good judgment and make sound data-backed decisions

Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and operates primarily indoors with limited to no travel expectation.
To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, team member must be able to:
