The Senior Training Attorney will play a leading role in developing and delivering training programs and litigation analysis for the Immigration Law Unit. This position will be instrumental in ensuring our attorneys, paralegals, and accredited representatives have the knowledge and skills to effectively serve low-income adults and children facing immigration law challenges. This role will collaborate with Immigration Unit leadership to identify training needs, design comprehensive programs, and create engaging learning materials.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Collaborate with Immigration Unit leadership to identify training needs for staff.
- Develop and provide training on various topics, and cases, legal ethics, and trial advocacy.
- Update training materials as needed.
- Stay informed of current legal developments and conduct an ongoing analysis of case law and changing immigration policies, assisting the staff to prepare their cases and understand the changing legal landscape.
- Collaborate with Supervising Attorneys and Program Director to identify opportunities for professional development for staff and facilitate access to relevant training opportunities.
- Carry a reduced case load as appropriate and assist with IMM appeals and cases.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Bar admission in good standing in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience practicing family law.
- Proficiency in legal research and writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with colleagues and program participants
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to social justice and a passion for serving underprivileged communities.
