LEGAL ASSISTANT

DEPARTMENT:                              Prosecuting Attorney – Child Support

HIRING RANGE: $22.36-24.84/hour based on education and position related experience. Longevity pay after 3 years.

HOURS & DAYS OF WORK:        Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

LOCATION OF POSITION:           Elkhart

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:         None

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing child support services, preparing pleadings and other
correspondence to ensure custodial parties receive their Court ordered support payments, and providing assistance to Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED with a minimum of one (1) year of related office experience

Knowledge of Elkhart County courts system and operations, including laws and legal terminology, administrative regulations, and official court policies and practices
Ability to apply appropriate procedures to assigned duties accordingly

Knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and ability to type with speed and accuracy; ability to prepare pleadings, petitions, and related correspondence
Pre-employment background check and drug screen
