The Corporate Counsel for Litigation will manage and oversee pending and potential litigation involving DuPont de Nemours, Inc. and its affiliated entities. This role involves providing legal counsel, developing litigation strategies, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Corporate Counsel for Litigation will work closely with internal stakeholders and external legal professionals to manage the risk associated with anticipated and pending litigation matters, ensuring alignment with company objectives and cost efficiency.  This is a great opportunity to manage a sizable, varied docket of litigation across the country.  Successful candidate will be responsible for actively managing outside counsel during all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, mediation, pre-trial preparations, trial, post-trials and appeals activity.

This role will work a hybrid schedule (3 days in the office) at our Wilmington, DE location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage outside counsel in various litigation matters across the country, including claims of personal injury, product liability, breach of contract, employment discrimination, and/or intellectual property matters, while ensuring alignment with Company objectives and cost efficiency.

  • Develop and implement litigation strategies, providing guidance and recommendations to management.

  • Engages, oversees, directs and/or evaluates the performance and progress of outside counsel representing the Company to ensure requisite expert legal advice is obtained when/as necessary.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather evidence, prepare witnesses, and formulate case strategies.

  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents.

  • Provide training and advice to internal teams on legal issues and risk management.

  • Prepare and present reports on litigation status and legal risks to senior management.

  • Establish and maintain budgets for litigated matters.  Scrutinizes legal invoices in conjunction with Litigation Guidelines. Approves legal invoices within specified authority level, applying adjustments when necessary.

  • This role must work effectively and independently in a complex, multi-party and fast-paced litigation environment. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and presentation to senior management.

  • Time management and organizational skills necessary to independently manage large docket, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and project a professional image at all times.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

  • At least five (5) years experience practicing as a licensed attorney at a law firm, corporation or with the government. 

  • Licensed member and in good standing of at least one state bar and eligible for admission on motion in Delaware required.      

Preferred Qualifications:

  •   Previous in-house counsel experience at a publicly traded company.
