We are seeking a skilled and experienced Litigation Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Insurance Defense, with 3-5 years of relevant work experience and an active Florida Bar license. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex litigation matters and contribute to the success of our firm.
- Represent insurance companies and their policyholders in a wide range of litigation matters, including personal injury, property damage, and liability claims.
- Manage a diverse caseload of insurance defense cases from inception through resolution, including trial if necessary.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to develop effective defense strategies.
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, and other legal documents with precision and attention to detail.
- Prepare and respond to discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
- Conduct depositions of plaintiffs, witnesses, and experts to gather crucial information for case preparation.
- Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution processes, such as mediation and arbitration.
- Represent clients in court hearings, trials, and appeals as needed.
- Collaborate with insurance adjusters, claims representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure effective case management and client communication.
- Stay current with changes in insurance law, regulations, and industry trends to provide cutting-edge legal advice and representation.
- Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and paralegals, providing guidance and support in case management and legal strategy.
- Contribute to the firm's business development efforts by participating in client meetings, networking events, and industry conferences.
- Maintain accurate and detailed case files, time records, and billing information.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards, professional rules of conduct, and firm policies and procedures.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar
- 3-5 years of experience in insurance defense litigation
- Strong knowledge of Florida civil procedure, rules of evidence, and insurance law
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proven track record of successful case management and favorable outcomes
- Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong client relationships
- Experience in handling complex, high-exposure insurance defense cases
- Knowledge of specialized areas of insurance law, such as construction defect, professional liability, or environmental claims
- Trial experience in state and federal courts
- Familiarity with insurance industry practices and claims handling procedures
