News Corp HQ is looking for a data privacy attorney to join the News Corp HQ Data Privacy Team.
Reporting to the News Corp HQ Chief Privacy Officer, the individual in this role will serve as privacy
counsel to HQ and certain of the business units across the News Corp family of businesses, with a
particular focus on compliance activities relating to new legislation in the U.S., as well as on-going
compliance activities with existing domestic and international data privacy and protection laws. This
individual will develop and improve upon various data privacy and related policies and procedures.
This position is based out of HQ’s offices located in Midtown Manhattan and is currently a hybrid work
arrangement (a minimum of three (3) days per week in office).
Job Description:
● Track and advise on international and domestic legal, regulatory and policy developments relating
to data collection and use, online advertising, tracking and analytics and related issues.
● Help implement and improve upon News Corp’s global data privacy requirements and related
procedures, including notice and consent requirements, data transfer requirements, vendor due
diligence, etc.
● Complete and review privacy impact assessments, vendor questionnaires, records of processing
activities, individual data rights requests, and similar data privacy compliance documentation.
● Assist with drafting and negotiating privacy/data protection/security terms for third party
agreements.
● Counsel business and technology teams on privacy issues in connection with human resource
management and business/consumer activities (e.g., online/digital advertising, marketing, digital
and mobile initiatives).
● Together with the Global Cybersecurity Team, assist with potential data breach incidents, any
required breach notifications, and any required remediation.
Relevant Experience:
● 3+ years of experience in-house with a multi-national corporation and/or at a major law firm with a
focus on domestic and international data privacy. In-house experience preferred but not required.
● Substantive knowledge and experience in developing, implementing and maintaining data privacy
policies, procedures and infrastructure.
● Experience advising on privacy and data protection matters outside the U.S., in particular UK,
EU, Australia, and Canada.
● Familiarity with HIPPA a plus.
● Ability to multi-task and to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced
environment.
● Ability to work collaboratively and build consensus amongst cross-functional groups.
● Excellent legal and business judgment with sound analytical skills.
● Law degree and license to practice law (or able to obtain in-house counsel admission) in NY
required.
● CIPP/CIPM/CISM certification preferred but not required.
