Job Description

SALARY GRADE: Grade 14

This position is permanent, part-time, 30 hours per week.

The Custody Mediation Program Assistant provides administrative and office management support to the Custody and Visitation Mediator in the counties of Moore and Randolph County in accordance with G.S. 50-13.1 for cases involving custody/visitation.

Responsibilities include maintaining client and program records, logging and compiling data, preparing and maintaining legal documents, maintaining court calendar of incoming cases and case reviews, and notifying appropriate parties of same.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Knowledge of: the importance of legal notice requirements; office practices and procedures to organize and maintain the office; and the Custody Mediation program as to its purpose, objectives and responsibilities to communicate the program to clients and the public.

Skills in: word processing; grammar and punctuation; and Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Ability to: apply specific rules and regulations to process and maintain records and documents; gather and report statistical information; transcribe material into correct form and to use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling; schedule and coordinate a variety of appointments and meetings; handle situations constructively, confidentially and with professional demeanor; listen attentively with tact and diplomacy; and effectively use computer software available to the office.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of administrative office experience; or completion of a two-year secretarial science or business administration associate degree program and one (1) year of responsible administrative office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
