Position Summary: The Personal Injury Law Clerk will play a key role in preparing and drafting legal petitions for personal injury claims. This position requires strong legal writing skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of civil litigation processes—particularly in the personal injury field. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Draft and revise petitions for personal injury cases under attorney supervision 
  • Draft and revise initial disclosures and discovery requests for personal injury cases under attorney supervision 
  • Review case files, medical records, and accident reports to extract relevant information 
  • Assist with legal research to support case arguments and pleadings 
  • Collaborate with attorneys and paralegals to ensure timely and accurate filings 
  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation 
  • Perform other clerical and administrative tasks as needed to support litigation team 

Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled in or graduated from an accredited law clerk/paralegal program or law school 
  • Prior experience in personal injury law is highly preferred 
  • Strong legal writing and research skills 
  • Familiarity with court procedures and civil litigation, particularly in personal injury 
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Filevine is preferred  

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience drafting complaints or petitions for personal injury, auto accidents, slip and fall, or premises liability cases 
  • Knowledge of local court filing procedures and e-filing platforms 

Physical Requirements:   

  • Office environment with normal business hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions.    
  • Stationary Position – Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.   
  • Move or Traverse – This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, office machinery, etc.  May occasionally ascends/descends the stairs to get to other floors, cafeteria and parking area. 
  • Dexterity – constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine/printer.   
  • Move, Transport, Position, Put, Install, Remove - Occasionally moves supplies weighing up to 10 pounds for various presentation and event needs.  
  • Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information - The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. 
  • Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess - The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
