Description

The paralegal / legal assistant is responsible for providing support to the legal team and consulting teams within SRG, with a focus on ensuring contract completion and compliance with securities laws and regulations. This role is responsible for providing a comprehensive range of secretarial support to the legal and consulting teams, including typing, editing, and/or formatting legal documents and correspondence, filing documents with state agencies electronically, electronic file maintenance, calendar and contacts maintenance, research, and other tasks, as assigned. Our ideal candidate will have a natural gift for helping our consulting teams deliver expert advice and enhance our current contract deliverables. Knowledge of securities law and regulations, corporate law matters, and assisting with mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, employment law, corporate & business formation, and corporate strategic advisement would be a plus.



Key Responsibilities

  1. Legal Planning and Coordination:
    • Support projects from contracts to completion by coordinating tasks, tracking progress, and ensuring deadlines are met
    • Draft project deliverables, including, but not limited to form contracts, amortization schedules, memos, reports, presentations, and other project resources, as necessary by typing, editing, formatting, tracking changes, and/or converting electronic documents to pdf format
    • Review all service deliverables such as transaction documents, governance documents, valuations, contracts, and models to assist with project completion
    • Address client objections and concerns through customization of agreements
    • Organize legal documents and maintain charts, spreadsheets, and files
    • Monitor project progress and identify potential risks or issues, promptly addressing them to keep projects on track
  2. Legal Compliance:
    • Stay abreast of changes in corporate and securities laws and regulations
    • Stay updated on industry developments and market conditions
    • Stay informed about regulatory developments affecting the securities industry
    • Stay informed on regulatory requirements related to corporate law, securities transactions, disclosures, and reporting
  3. Communication and Reporting:
    • Manage email inbox and calendar
    • Address any inquiries and direct individuals to appropriate contacts
    • Schedule calls with teams, as needed
    • Provides clear updates and action items to internal team, including but not limited to, status updates, to-do list items, or open items.
  4. Documentation and Records:
    • Creates, monitors, and completes tasks in CRM system and/or project management system
    • Maintains electronic files and records
    • Ensure project files are organized and accessible for future reference
  5. Process Improvement:
    • Continuously assess project coordination processes
    • Propose improvements for increased efficiency and effectiveness
  6. Team Collaboration:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with consulting teams
    • Provide feedback to enhance service offerings
  7. Research Tasks:
    • Stay informed of recent industry updates
    • Stay informed of recent updates impacting corporate law matters, mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, employment law, corporate & business formation
    • Other research-related tasks, as needed
  8. Training and Education:
    • Assist with training programs for employees on legal and regulatory matters
    • Assist with staff awareness of compliance obligations and ethical considerations

Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience as a paralegal / legal assistant
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams)
  • Experience with CRM Systems (e.g. Salesforce or Hubspot) and experience with Project Management Software (e.g. Zoho, Basecamp, Monday.com, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to speak with specificity
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Team player with a positive “can do” attitude
  • Experience in mergers & acquisitions, succession planning, and/or professional consulting, preferred
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry, preferred


Salary
  • $55,000 - $70,000/year
