The Firm EXP is a leading provider of legal and business solutions for personal injury law firms. We specialize in recruiting, operations management, and case support services. We are looking for a Personal Injury Legal Assistant to join our team and assist attorneys with pre-litigation case management, medical record coordination, claims handling, and administrative support.
Job Responsibilities
Case & Claims Management
- Open new personal injury claims with insurance companies and track claim progress.
- Communicate with insurance adjusters, medical providers, and clients regarding case updates.
- Assist in gathering and reviewing medical records, police reports, and other supporting documents.
- Monitor case timelines and ensure all necessary documents are obtained and filed in a timely manner.
Medical Records & Documentation
- Request, track, and obtain medical records and bills from healthcare providers.
- Review medical records for accuracy and completeness, flagging any discrepancies.
- Prepare medical chronologies and summaries for attorney review.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all relevant documentation is up to date.
Demand Writing & Legal Correspondence
- Draft and assemble personal injury demand letters, including exhibits and supporting documentation.
- Review demand drafts to ensure compliance with legal standards and client branding.
- Assist in negotiating medical bills and liens.
- Prepare and send settlement disbursement letters and follow up on pending demands.
Administrative & Client Support
- Assist attorneys with scheduling, case organization, and client communication.
- Respond to client inquiries and provide updates on case status.
- Maintain and update case management software with all relevant information.
- Support attorneys and case managers with additional administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications & Skills
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with case management software (Filevine, Clio, SmartAdvocate, or similar).
- Strong legal writing skills for drafting demand letters and correspondence.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and records review.
- Experience handling insurance claims
Soft Skills:
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Proactive problem-solver with a client-focused approach.
