About the Position: Serves as a Paralegal Specialist in the DHA Office of General Counsel.
Duties- Conduct research of statutory, regulatory, court and administrative precedents, and governing policy using available legal research tools.
- Integrate administrative law with related health care legal issues to review actions, draft pleadings and memorandums and to provide recommendations on legal sufficiency.
- Draft legal opinions and responses for Director signature on legal issues involving healthcare law, administrative law and government ethics.
- Conduct discussions, interviews, etc., with prospective witnesses and other agency officials pertinent to various legal matters and appropriate resolution.
- Assist Network and medical treatment facilities (MTF) Attorneys, legal advisors and MTF representatives with appeals, hearing requests, complaints, and peer review hearings.
- Administer the ethics program under the guidance and supervision of the Network Attorney and ethics officials.
- Perform legal research using computer-based legal systems to assist ethics officials in analyzing potential conflict of interests.
- Write legal reviews on documents/files, as assigned; identify applicable laws, regulations or other precedent as necessary and draft responses for signature of the action attorney.
