Job Description

Job Title: Worker's Comp Paralegal
Pay Range:
$31.25 to $34.62 per hour
Performance Based Bonus:
bonuses tied to performance
Benefits Summary

Schedule: Full-time, in-office Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.– 5:30 p.m.

Position Overview

Johnson Law Group is seeking a Paralegal to join our Workers’ Compensation team in Chicago. This role supports attorneys throughout the lifecycle of workers’ compensation cases and is ideal for a paralegal with prior experience in workers’ compensation or a strong interest in developing specialization in this practice area. The position works closely with attorneys and clients in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide paralegal support throughout the lifecycle of workers’ compensation cases, ensuring deadlines and procedural requirements are met
  • Draft and prepare workers’ compensation documents, including applications, petitions, responses, and settlement agreements, for attorney review
  • Organize, review, and summarize medical records relevant to workers’ compensation claims
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing updates and responding to inquiries professionally and empathetically
  • Apply Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission rules and procedures for filings, hearings, and case progression
  • Conduct factual and legal research related to Illinois workers’ compensation claims
  • Assist attorneys with hearing and trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and witness files
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files within the firm’s case management system

Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a paralegal, preferably in workers’ compensation or personal injury
  • Familiarity with Illinois Workers’ Compensation laws and procedures
  • Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to client service

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree
  • Paralegal certificate
  • Bilingual proficiency

Compensation & Classification

  • Hourly, non-exempt position
  • Eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable Illinois and federal wage and hour laws
