Job Description

Description

Description

The intern will be supervised by Executive Director Erin Hall and Director of Housing and Consumer Justice Bryan Fisher. The intern will have opportunities to assist in program level legal operations projects in furtherance of our legal service plan objectives as well as direct legal services experiences and paralegal work assignments, such as subject matter research and client/community communications. Additionally, the intern may be involved in daily non-profit operations and there are opportunities to participate in business discussions including development work. The internship will take place at the Clinic’s main office, located at the Trinity Outreach Center, at 3333 N Meridian Street.

Goals

The goal of this program is to introduce the intern to the inner workings of the poverty law sector as well as that of a faith-based nonprofit, providing an understanding of the Clinic’s prophetic call to “Seek justice, defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow (Isaiah 1:17).”

Candidates must have good listening and communication skills, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and be attentive to detail/accuracy. Students should be well-organized, independent workers and have good written and verbal skills.

Internship Expectations

The intern is expected to work 10–12 hours a week during the 2025 fall semester, will be compensated $14 per hour, and will be required to write a 250–500 word blog or personal essay about the experience at the completion of the internship. The intern will participate in vocational reflection conversations with other Compass Center interns as part of the paid internship during the semester.
