The Department of Justice, Office of Human Resources is looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated individuals who enjoy working in a positive team environment to join our Payroll and Benefits Services, Benefits Consultation Team
The Benefits Consultant serves as the department's health benefits officer and subject matter expert for all state- sponsored benefit programs, and is responsible for a wide variety of the more complex and highly technical benefit management duties, including, but not limited to: Medical and Dependent Reimbursement Accounts; Flex and Coben Cash; health, dental, and vision programs; Other PostEmployment Benefits deductions; Health Care Cash Benefits; and dependent eligibility and re-verification. The Consultant provides consultation to employees on all aspects of the enrollment process; conducts benefits orientation as part of the on boarding of new employees; and serves as the administrative processor of health benefit transactions in accordance with the California Public Employees' Retirement System and department policy and procedure.
The Consultant also administers and manages all aspects of the annual benefits open enrollment process including, but not limited to evaluating and disseminating annual benefit changes, the roll out of annual health benefit information to the department employees and updating the intranet.

- Ability to communicate appropriately with all levels of departmental staff, up to and including executive management
- Knowledge and/or experience providing training in a classroom setting or individualized setting
- Knowledge and/or experience managing projects
- Experience maintaining the confidentiality of information and records
- Experience managing multiple and changing priorities
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment
- Dependable and punctual, with an excellent attendance record
- Knowledgeable of modern office methods and equipment, including experience with personal computers utilizing SharePoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc

Working Conditions
This position has been designated as eligible for telework and is currently a remote-centered position. The position will however require in person attendance on a recurring basis. The selected candidate would report to DOJ headquarters in Sacramento if/when required toattend mandated in-person meetings, trainings, etc. Expenses related to travel to the office for required events are the responsibility of the employee. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time.
