Job Description

Job Purpose

Support General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel with all legal functions across the platform as well as serve as liaison to business units on wide range of legal questions relating to multifamily real estate business.

Duties + Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support on preparation of corporate delegations and entity formation documents such certificates of formation and LLC agreements
  • Responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various types of legal documents and commercial contracts, including financing arrangements, vendor agreements, professional services contracts, employment agreements, and confidentiality agreements
  • Provide responsive on-going legal support to the Proprietary Products group on real estate finance products offered by the Company, joint venture arrangements and investment funds
  • Provide support to the Capital Markets group in negotiating trade confirmations with investment bank counterparties
  • Provide support to the Chief Financial Officer in negotiating warehouse and repurchase agreements
  • Provide support to our investment manager entity on applicable regulatory compliance functions
  • Provide support on the legal aspects of company policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance
  • Responsible for managing the legal aspects of the Company’s lending and servicing licensing regime
  • All other legal tasks assigned

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited school of law
  • 5-8 years’ experience in either general corporate (governance, HR, licensing, contracts) or in a private fund, investment management or other commercial finance transactional practice
  • Exposure to commercial real estate industry helpful but not required 
  • Comfortable with seeking direction where necessary but also work independently where appropriate
  • Desire to learn wide array of legal practice areas within a multifamily real estate company 
  • Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Adaptability and attention to detail
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal
  • Willingness to contribute wherever necessary; “can do,” “no task too small” attitude

Position is also eligible for discretionary annual bonus and long-term incentive plan

Salary
  • $240,000 - $200,000/year
