POSITION SUMMARY

The Litigation Paralegal performs legal support functions as outlined below. The Paralegal is responsible for supporting multiple attorneys in the Firm and is expected to have a high degree of responsibility for project management and implementation.

Job Functions:
• Prepare, review, edit, proofread and file a variety of documents

• Review incoming discovery from opposing counsel for deficiency and prepare supplemental requests, as needed

• Review, request and summarize medical and criminal records

• Prepare background memorandum’s on witnesses and businesses

• Organize and maintain case files, attorney notebooks, databases, spreadsheets and other materials

• Prepare witness and exhibit lists

• Interact and communication with experts

• Heavily involved in e-discovery and e-discovery platforms, such as Relativity

• Assist attorneys in preparation for trial by arranging preparing trial exhibits, coordinating experts and witnesses and preparing demonstrative exhibits

• Review case files have strong understanding on material needed to push case forward and request information needed such as driving records, cell phone records, medical and miscellaneous records

• Administratively support Firm business development, if needed

• Prepare and cull documents for production, expert review, depositions and medical examinations

• Knowledge of how to review, prepare and maintain cases for appeal, as well as class action suits

• Coordinate and track project activities

• Prepare medical chronologies

• Perform other duties as requested

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:


• Associate degree in paralegal or legal studies or paralegal certificate and five years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, work experience and training in a law office setting
• Paralegal certificate from ABA-approves program is preferred, but will consider experience
•  Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Proficiency in trial software
• Proficiency in document management software
• Experience with banking, transactional and insurance defense preferred, but will consider experience

 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information

• Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written

• Strong command of the English language, including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, form and style

• Ability to create, compose, proof and edit correspondence

• Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point)•Proficiency in Everlaw, Realtivity and/or Casemap

• Database and records management skills

• Possess and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail

• Ability to analyze and solve problems

• Possess strong organizational, prioritization and delegation skills

• Ability to act proactively on case files with minimal supervision

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Impeccable attendance and punctuality and a strong work ethic

• Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressured environment

• Able to develop a strong rapport with various department staff earning trust and respect


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This work is physical in nature and requires the following physical activities:
