Purpose of Role
Responsible for providing legal guidance, consultation to various business functions.
Expectations:
- Provides support and assists in protecting all departments in the company regarding regulatory matters, related legal and compliance matters.
- Drafts, reviews, and approves policies and procedures, and other legal documents and provides feedback on legal issues relating to compliance monitoring.
- Anticipates and identifies legal issues and counsels management in order to develop legal strategies and solutions; assists management with evaluating legal risk factors involved in business decisions.
- Reviews contracts, leases, and other legal documents, as well as internal policies and procedures; researches legal issues and recommends revisions as necessary.
- Oversee and manage internal and external counsel where appropriate.
- Reviews, researches, interprets, and prepares both written and oral opinions on a wide variety of legal issues.
- Represents the company in connection with the prepartion and negotiation of various contracts and agreements, including principally vendor contracts and consumer loan documents.
- Assists in protecting an organization's legal interest and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- May supervise less experienced Assistant General Counsels
Qualifications:

- JD – Juris Doctor

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
- A minimum of five years of experience at a law firm or in house.
- Admitted to state bar in the state where practicing transactions, contract management, taxes, and general corporate work.
- Recent experience providing strategic legal and compliance advice.
- Analytical and strategic problem solving and negotiation skills.
- Interpersonal, oral, and written communication, and presentation skills with tact and diplomacy.
- MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is ($160,000 - $180,000) inclusive of all geographical differences in the labor market. The base salary for the position will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s work location, skills, education, and experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members in determining any final offer.
