Job Description

Genius Talent has partnered with a leading civil practice law firm in the Raleigh area seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support the firm across several key practice areas, including local government, land use, business law, tax appeals, complex litigation, and healthcare law. The ideal candidate will bring strong research, drafting, and case-management skills and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, summaries, and supporting documentation.
  • Draft a wide range of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, resolutions, ordinances, contracts, discovery materials, and correspondence.
  • Assist with local government and administrative matters, including regulatory compliance and preparation for board or commission meetings.
  • Support land use matters by preparing zoning and permitting materials and organizing documents for hearings.
  • Assist with business law tasks, including entity formation, corporate filings, and contract review.
  • Prepare filings and exhibits for tax appeals before local and state boards and commissions.
  • Support complex litigation through case file management, calendar tracking, trial preparation, and document organization.
  • Assist with healthcare-related matters involving regulatory requirements and public health compliance.
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date case files and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, agencies, and internal team members.

Qualifications
  • Paralegal certification or equivalent education required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a law firm or legal department (experience in civil, government, or litigation practice preferred).
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Experience drafting and reviewing legal documents.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with legal research platforms and case management software.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team environment.
