We are seeking an enterprising attorney with an interest in government contracts and related transactions to join the Amazon Leo Legal team.
Some travel may be required.
This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. Citizen in order to comply with U.S. government-imposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed.
Key job responsibilities
- Review and analyze government contract solicitations and proposals
- Draft and negotiate subcontracts and technology development agreements
- Provide guidance on intellectual property matters and export control compliance
- Develop creative, business-centric strategies for complex legal issues
- Design scalable processes that balance risk management with business agility
A day in the life
In this role, you'll collaborate daily with Amazon Leo business teams, engineers, and program managers to provide real-time legal guidance on government contract opportunities. You'll review solicitation documents, draft and negotiate subcontracts, and advise on compliance requirements for space technology projects. You'll participate in cross-functional meetings to assess legal risks and develop creative solutions that enable the business to move quickly while maintaining compliance.

- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience with government procurement and contracting process
- Experience with aerospace, defense, or satellite communications industries
- Knowledge of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
- Prior experience working with federal agencies or federal contracting
- Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain one

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
