JOB DESCRIPTION
The Workers’ Compensation Board is seeking an experienced attorney who is qualified by background and training to serve as the Workers’ Compensation Board’s Senior Staff Attorney. The position is primarily located in the Board’s Augusta Central Office. The Senior Staff Attorney:
- Manages day-to-day operations of the Worker Advocate Division
- Directs staff assignments, work schedules, and training activities
- Supervises Worker Advocate Division employees and travels to offices throughout Maine to ensure the goals of the Division are achieved
- Answers legal questions from Worker Advocate Division staff
- Responds to questions from injured workers and the public
- Provides legal advice and assistance to injured workers
- Carries caseload of active litigation files representing injured workers through the dispute resolution process in Title 39-A
- Performs other duties assigned by Executive Director and General Counsel
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of modern management principles and practices
- Been admitted to the practice of law in the State of Maine.
- Knowledge of laws, rules and cases pertaining to workers’ compensation.
- Ability to supervise statewide staff.
