About the Role
A leading law firm is seeking a Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring Associate Attorney to join its New York practice.
We are looking for an attorney with 2–4 years of bankruptcy and creditors' rights experience, including hands-on experience with Chapter 11 proceedings, workouts, and out-of-court restructurings.
This position offers sophisticated restructuring and bankruptcy work, direct client interaction, courtroom exposure, and the opportunity to take meaningful responsibility for matters.
What You'll Do- Represent secured creditors and other stakeholders in bankruptcy and restructuring matters
- Handle Chapter 11 proceedings, workouts, and out-of-court restructurings
- Represent secured creditors, landlords, asset purchasers, equipment lessors, fiduciaries, and other parties
- Draft motions, pleadings, briefs, objections, and other court filings
- Handle bankruptcy and related commercial litigation matters
- Take and defend depositions
- Appear in federal, state, and bankruptcy courts
- Negotiate settlements and communicate with opposing counsel
- Work directly with clients and senior attorneys on case strategy
- Participate in client-facing and business development activities
Required:
- 2–4 years of bankruptcy and creditors' rights experience
- Experience with Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings
- Experience with workouts and/or out-of-court restructurings
- Strong understanding of bankruptcy and creditors' rights law
- Experience with bankruptcy-related litigation and case management
- Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent
- New York Bar admission in good standing, or currently taking steps toward New York admission
