Estate Planning Attorney
POSITION SUMMARY:
Meet with prospective and returning clients for consultations; analyze estate to prepare appropriate estate plan; Ensure that legal documents are appropriately drafted to meet the planning needs and recommendations for clients. The Attorney will be in office 5 days a week.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with prospective clients for consultations and gather all necessary information to make planning recommendations;
- Meet with current and former clients and review possible changes, updates and/or upgrades to estate plan;
- Quote fees;
- Handle client engagement process when moving forward with preparation of estate planning documents;
- Complete proper engagement agreement and sign at appointment or send via DocuSign;
- Accept payments for fees;
- Complete Client Intake Form, Client Review Conference or other interim meeting if necessary;
- Complete Design Sheet;
- Use, follow, and respond to Lawcus and Asana task management system including timely completing tasks, monitoring email inbox, and responding to specific correspondence within matters.
- Review draft of estate plan to ensure that plan meets client’s needs and wishes, along with any recommendations made to client;
- Conduct review with client, explain the plan and how it was designed and answer any questions or address any concerns that client may have;
- Assess any opportunities to refer client to affiliated financial advisor and have client sign appropriate Disclosure and Consent Forms;
- Respond to client phone calls and e-mails;
- Keep detailed notes of all meetings and phone calls (either electronically or hand-written) and make sure that notes are maintained inside the client file;
- Meet periodically for Attorney Meeting and Advanced Planning Meeting (if applicable) to discuss complicated client matters and get any technical questions answered in a group setting;
- Meet every other week for Estate Planning Department Meeting;
- Meet once a month for all staff meeting;
- All other projects as assigned.
Required Skills:

Education/Training:
Licensed attorney by California State Bar; State Bar Certified Specialist in Trust, Wills & Probate preferred; knowledge of income, gift and estate tax laws, Notary Public; 3 years minimum experience in the area of Estate Planning to start; Additional on-going courses and continuing education programs in the area of Estate Planning. Prefer Advance Planning experience.
Pay: $130,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience
