The Attorney IV is a key member of the Legal Division Team. Under the general direction of the Deputy Chief Counsel, the Attorney IV independently handles complex, difficult, and sensitive matters involving a broad range of tax-related legal matters. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the technical accuracy and legal consistency in the Legal Division's positions and analyses regarding state and federal legislation, rulings, and regulations, and for ensuring that the policies articulated in legal advice, rulings, regulations and other internal and external communications are accurate, complete, and consistently in accord with Board and departmental policy. Further responsibilities include the development, review, and recommendation of a wide variety of complex technical and policy issues involving the department's overall administration of the state's income tax laws.The Attorney IV is a key member of the Legal Division's professional staff responsible for special and complex statutory and regulatory programs involving an extensive knowledge of federal and state tax law. The incumbent does not supervise lower level attorney staff, but may act in a lead capacity over the work of other attorneys and staff.

Working Conditions
- This position is eligible for limited remote working within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need. FTB has a minimum in-office requirement of two days per week for all positions including those that are eligible for telework. This is subject to change.
