Position and Salary 

The Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a permanent full time Program Specialist 5 in the Administration Division. This position is located in Olympia, Washington, and is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE). 

Salary Range 60: $67,716 - $91,068 

The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The following stipends may apply based on position requirements:

  • Incumbents assigned to our Seattle office location receive an additional 5% King County Location Pay stipend.  
  • Incumbents assigned to a position designated as requiring dual language skills will receive a 5% Dual Language Requirement Pay stipend. 

About the Administration Division:

The Administration Division has 27 employees in several smaller units including the Racial Equity Unit, Public Affairs Unit and the Legislative Unit.  The division has employees in Olympia and Seattle. 

Duties and Essential Functions of a Program Specialist 5: 

This position serves as the lead staff support to the Sunshine Committee which includes the Chair and 12 members.  For quarterly hybrid meetings, this position provides support by working with the Chair to develop and distribute the meeting materials.  

This position also serves as the Public Records Coordinator for the Administration Division. Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Review each request for clarification and correct distribution to the division. 

  • Review and redact records for privileged or exempt information, and coordinate the production of responsive records to the Public Records Unit in a timely and efficient manner in compliance with all laws, rules, exemptions and AGO policies related to public records disclosure. 

  • Show competence and fluency with technology used for review and production of public records including software such as Everlaw.

  •  Manages and maintains records per retention schedules. 

  • Attend the agency-wide bimonthly Public Records Coordinator meetings. 

  • Stays updated on existing and developing PRA case law.

This position also supervises the Program Specialist 3 position.

 Ideal Candidate Profile

 Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience, or a Master’s degree and two years of experience in a related field including planning, policy analysis, coordination and consultation with a variety of public and private agencies, organizations, and/or levels of government and supervisory experience.

The most competitive candidates will also possess the following desired qualification:
  • Experience in processing public records requests.
