ABOUT THIS JOB
Summary:
The Legal Secretary position at the City of Tucson’s Prosecutor’s Office provides legal administrative and clerical support to attorneys. This position manages and maintains dockets and files and prepares legal documents.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Litigation Support Supervisor. This position does not supervise.
Duties:
Processes various court documents for attorneys and court proceedings including motions, long form complaints and diversions and Professional Tax Receipt (PTR) documents. Updates cases with minute entries, plea offers, and hearing dates in software system. Adheres to all task deadlines.
Requests, redacts, and obtains evidence for court cases including, documents from other agencies, body camera video, audio and video evidence. Orders and retrieves physical evidence from the Tucson Police Department.
Discloses evidence within the state's possession to defendants, defense attorneys and victims through various sources including prosecutor's case management system.
Assists the public and victims in person and on the phone. Calendars events and deadlines. Enters drug case statistics and calendaring reports into citywide databases.
Cross trains and rotates assignments with other legal secretaries. Provides back-up support to paralegals.
Performs all other duties and tasks assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
In-office position (no remote work). The shift is 8:00 am-5:00 pm.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: 6 months post high school
Experience: Two (2) years of directly related experience
Equivalency: Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two (2) years of administrative support experience
Experience working in a related environment, such as a court or law office, including the handling of confidential information.
