Job Description

Apollo Intelligence is poised to be the leader in market research, insights, and analytics for pharma and life sciences, and Apollo’s General Counsel and Global Head of Legal & Compliance will play a critical role in guiding the company through complex legal landscapes while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations to help Apollo achieve its full potential in Accelerating Health Innovation.

The General Counsel and Global Head of Legal & Compliance reports to the CEO and will be accountable for providing legal counsel, strategy, and execution across various functions, including data privacy, intellectual property, employee relations, pharmacovigilance compliance, and contract management.   

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key advisor to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and Board of Directors on legal advice concerning
    1. data protection laws and regulations including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant legislation,
    2. protection and enforcement of the company’s intellectual property portfolio,
    3. pharmacovigilance, 
    4. other various legal matters. 
  • Provide legal support to the CEO and Chief People Officer on employment law matters, grievances, disputes, and compliance with labor laws.
  • Develop and implement data privacy policies and procedures to safeguard company data and protect employee and customer information.
  • Develop training programs to promote awareness of legal standards and policies.
  • Provide guidance on IP-related matters, including licensing agreements, disputes, and infringements.
  • Collaborate with Product & Technology teams to identify and protect innovative ideas and products.
  • Ensure the organization’s adherence to all relevant global regulatory frameworks and maintain oversight of compliance with pharmacovigilance and healthcare technology standards.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy, policies, procedures (SOPs), and performance metrics that promote a proactive approach to risk management and regulatory adherence.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external regulatory bodies, managing all audit, inspection, and quality-related matters and with external legal counsel and other advisors, as needed.
  • Oversee proper collection, analysis, and reporting of adverse event data to meet global pharmacovigilance standards and the execution of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) following PV audits and inspections.
  • Oversee the organization’s risk management framework, leading regulatory inspections, audits, and internal assessments to ensure compliance with global standards. 
  • Oversee company-wide compliance training programs and collaborate on business certification process for relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO).
  • Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and execution of contracts to ensure they include necessary compliance clauses, warranties, and provisions that protect the organization from regulatory risks.
  • Implement best practices for contract management and develop and maintain a centralized contract repository and tracking system.
  • Monitor the performance of external partners, ensuring they meet contractual obligations and regulatory requirements. 
  • Ensure that teams responsible for contract management understand and adhere to legal, regulatory, and compliance standards when negotiating and managing contracts.
  • Provide thought leadership and actively collaborate on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree. + Current license to practice law preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a corporate legal environment, with a focus on data privacy, intellectual property, pharmacovigilance, and contract management. 
  • Proven knowledge of applicable laws and regulations in the relevant areas.
  • Advanced knowledge of global pharmacovigilance regulations and guidelines.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, GDPR, FDA).
  • Proven experience with quality systems implementation, audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Knowledge of global differences in adverse event reporting and industry trends.
  • Expertise in contract management systems, tools, and processes that ensure visibility into contractual compliance and risk.
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Experience with sustainability strategies and programs, decarbonization roadmaps, climate risk assessments, and green lease strategies   
    • Certification in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC) or equivalent  
    • Familiarity with market research standards (e.g., ESOMAR, BHBIA).
    • Understanding of digital healthcare technologies, with working knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) a plus.
    • Experience with data collection and management in healthcare and/or market research.
    • Sustainability and ESG reporting (GRI, SASB, TCFD, GRESB, CDP, etc.)
