Responsibilities:
Case Management: Manage and organize litigation cases, including tracking deadlines, court dates, and filing requirements. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and databases.
Legal Research: Conduct legal research using online databases and other resources to gather relevant case law, statutes, regulations, and other legal information.
Document Preparation: Draft, edit, and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests. Ensure documents are properly formatted and adhere to court rules.
Discovery Support: Assist in the discovery process, including document collection, review, and production. Prepare and maintain document indexes and summaries.
Client Interaction: Act as a point of contact for clients, keeping them informed about case progress, scheduling appointments, and assisting with document execution.
Trial Preparation: Assist in trial preparation by organizing exhibits, coordinating witnesses, and attending court proceedings as needed.
Legal Technology: Utilize legal software and technology for document management, research, and case analysis.
Administrative Tasks: Perform various administrative tasks such as maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings, and managing attorney time records.
Requirements:
Education: Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field. Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certification is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a litigation paralegal, preferably in a law firm setting.
Legal Knowledge: Strong understanding of legal principles, procedures, and court rules related to civil litigation.
Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in legal software, Microsoft Office Suite, and research tools.
Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a legal team, take initiative, and adapt to changing priorities.
