Job Description

Offit Kurman, a nationally recognized Am Law 200 firm, is seeking a Bankruptcy & Restructuring Associate with 3–5 years of experience to join our Bankruptcy practice in Los Angeles, California. The ideal candidate will have experience representing both debtors and creditors, with exposure to complex bankruptcy matters, restructuring, and fiduciary representation.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • Complex bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings
  • Corporate restructuring and distressed asset transactions
  • Bankruptcy litigation and adversary proceedings
  • Representation of secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, and other stakeholders
  • Legal counsel to bankruptcy trustees, federal/state receivers, and other fiduciaries
  • Experience with Chapter 11 reorganization, receiverships, and related litigation

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Handle a wide range of bankruptcy matters involving consumer and business debtors, including Chapter 11 proceedings
  • Represent clients in a broad range of bankruptcy proceedings, including Chapters 7, 11, and 13
  • Advise and represent creditors, committees, trustees, and fiduciaries in bankruptcy court and related litigation
  • Litigate contested matters and adversary proceedings arising in bankruptcy cases

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in bankruptcy, restructuring, and creditors’ rights
  • Background in both debtor- and/or creditor-side representation
  • Strong writing, communication, and case management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
