In-House Legal Counsel

The In-House Legal Counsel will provide comprehensive legal guidance and support to ensure the organization’s compliance with laws and regulations while mitigating risks and protecting the company's interests. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts; advising on corporate governance; advising and assisting on employment law matters; managing legal disputes and litigation; and overseeing regulatory compliance. The In-House Legal Counsel will work closely with internal stakeholders across departments to align legal strategies with business objectives and ensure the organization operates within the scope of applicable laws. This position will report to the President of the company or Senior Legal Counsel.

What would you do in this role?

Key Responsibilities:

• Legal Advisory: Provide proactive legal counsel to senior management and internal departments on a broad range of issues, including employment law, corporate compliance, intellectual property, and commercial transactions.
• Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure the company's rights and obligations are clearly defined and protected.
• Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, including data protection and privacy laws.
• Dispute Resolution: Manage legal disputes, litigation, and claims, liaising with external counsel when necessary.
• Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, providing training and guidance to staff as needed.
• Policy Development: Assist in the creation and implementation of company policies and procedures to support compliance and minimize liability.

Qualifications:

• Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the bar in the State of Texas (this position is based in Plano, TX) or at least one State bar in the United States.
• Experience: 5+ years of legal experience, preferably with a combination of law firm and in-house legal counsel roles.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of corporate and commercial law, excellent negotiation and drafting skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Attributes: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, high ethical standards, and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
