ATTORNEYS' TITLE FUND SERVICES

Summary:

Underwriting Counsel provides insuring decisions and underwriting analysis related to real property conveyance and title insurance to Fund Members and Examiners.

*This position is hybrid and we prefer candidates in the Central Florida region.

*Out of state candidates will not be considered for this opening.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advise Fund Members and Examiners of underwriting requirements on all areas of real estate transactions and title insurance based upon applying underwriting and risk analysis. 
  • Identify and maintain current legal standards and procedures in parallel with regulatory requirements to properly characterize or determine the legal effect of a transaction.
  • Manage increased risk to The Fund and the underwriter as applicable applying underwriting and risk analysis.
  • Publish articles concerning real estate and title insurance legal issues and make presentations on relevant legal matters.
  • Visit significant customers to promote the use of The Fund’s services as relevant.
  • Participate in meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, create and assure the accuracy of underwriting guidelines and educational materials, provide approvals and resolve problems.
  • Create and deliver legal presentations for Fund Members, staff and the title insurance industry. 
  • Maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies. 
  • Provide underwriting approval for large dollar and high risk transactions. 

Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree

Experience:

  • Three years concentrated Florida real property experience or title insurance industry experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of real property law and its application to real property transactions
  • Knowledge of the title insurance and information industry is required
  • Knowledge of The Fund’s customer facing applications is preferred

License Requirements:  Must be a member of the Florida Bar

Travel: Occasional in-state travel may be required.
