The Role You'll Play to Create Success
We are excited to announce our search for a full-time Senior Paralegal! In this role, you will have the opportunity to impact the FrankCrum business everyday by providing paralegal support duties to staff counsel in the defense of FWCI’s insureds in litigation matters involving in property, bodily injury, and construction defect claims throughout the State of Florida.
- Maintains a cooperative partnership with Claims Management/Staff and clients in the handling of all claims and lawsuits.
- Ensures compliance with all local Court rules and compliance with FWCI litigation guidelines, including reporting guidelines.
- Researches legal issues and prepare related memoranda to summarize results.
- Advises staff counsel as to priority issues and status of assigned cases.
- Conducts investigations of witnesses and party plaintiffs.
- Develops draft pleadings, shells, and prepare motions for review by assigned staff counsel.
- Assists in all aspects of discovery, including management of internal and external ESI.
- Organizes and prepare exhibit lists and privilege logs.
- Prepares drafts of documents, affidavits, and other required correspondence.
- Prepares, issues and tracks subpoenas as necessary.
- Reviews and summarizes project or medical records.
- Maintains electronic and hard copy case files and databases.
- Coordinates with outside litigation vendors.
- Assists with trial preparation, including the readiness of courtrooms and attendance at trials.
The Attributes We Seek
Keys to success in this position include a minimum of an associate degree in paralegal or legal studies or a paralegal certificate. Bachelor’s degree in paralegal or legal studies is preferred. Florida registered paralegal (FRP) also preferred.
Must have a minimum of five (5) years of law firm experience, preferably involved with defense-oriented litigation. Experience with construction defect claims, including Chapter 558 pre-suit requirements. Experience with property and bodily injury claims and experience working with multiple attorneys required.
Required working knowledge of Microsoft office (365 or similar), including extensive knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel. Experience working with law firm case management software, experience with Clio and Faster Law preferred. Experience with document and ESI management software needed.
