Associate Attorney

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join a growing insurance defense litigation practice. This role will manage a diverse caseload of insurance defense matters from intake through resolution, working directly with carrier clients while maintaining high standards of client service, case management, and litigation performance. The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex civil litigation matters and thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a docket of insurance defense matters, including general liability, auto liability, professional liability, premises liability, construction defect, and related claims.

  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents.

  • Take and defend depositions, including expert and key witness depositions.

  • Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.

  • Communicate proactively with carrier clients regarding case strategy, status updates, budgets, and litigation developments.

  • Comply with carrier litigation guidelines and billing protocols.

  • Coordinate and manage expert witnesses, including obtaining approvals, monitoring budgets, and ensuring timely invoicing.

  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff to ensure efficient case management.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced legal team members as appropriate.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Active bar license required.

  • 2–9 years of civil litigation experience, with a primary focus on insurance defense.

  • Experience handling trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.

  • Experience working with carrier clients and adhering to carrier litigation guidelines.

  • Strong written and verbal advocacy skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate, compliant billing practices.

  • Proficiency with legal research tools and case management software.

Compensation Package
  • Salary Range: $110,000 – $145,000 annually, based on experience.
