
The People You Will Work With
The nonexempt position will report directly to the Senior Corporate Paralegal but may work directly with the General Counsel or the Assistant General Counsels on some projects. The position also involves interaction with members of Farmer Mac’s Board of Directors, executive officers, outside auditors, and employees from all organizational departments within Farmer Mac.
Where and When You Will Work
The position will be based in Farmer Mac’s headquarters located at 2100 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, DC. Farmer Mac embraces a Presence with Purpose work environment, which allows for flexibility of work location while providing the opportunity for teams to come together in the office with purpose. Work outside of core hours may be required for planned and unplanned activities to complete time sensitive projects or to attend off-site meetings or events. Travel outside of Washington, DC, is generally not expected for this position.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage organization and retention of corporate documents, including tracking corporate contracts, monitoring contract execution, and migrating documents from Legal’s files to governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) platform.
- Assist with the coordination of meetings of Farmer Mac’s Board of Directors and Board Committees, including posting of written materials to the Board’s document portal (Diligent Boards).
- Maintain Board resource folder in Diligent Boards with all current and revised Board policies, orientation material, and Board and Committee annual agendas.
- Assist the Senior Corporate Paralegal with regulatory correspondence and reporting with the Securities and Exchange Commission, including Reports on Forms 8-K, 10-Q, and 10 K, Proxy Statements, and Section 16 filings (Forms 3, 4, and 5), as well as required filings with the New York Stock Exchange and Farm Credit Administration.
- Respond to requests for information from internal groups and external entities.
- Update and maintain the Legal Department Procedures Manual.
- Assist with the management of internal spreadsheets to track outstanding shares of company stock and individual stock holdings, equity awards, and exercises.
- Assist with notifications about dividends on common stock and preferred stock.
- Assist with drafting board resolutions, secretary certificates, stock issuance letters, and powers of attorney.
- Update and maintain Legal’s file system from hard copy files to electronic copies.

- Exercise discretion/confidentiality and demonstrate sound business judgment when performing assigned duties.
- Strong working knowledge and capability in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with document management software (e.g., SharePoint) and GRC software, applications, and platforms (e.g., ProcessUnity) preferred.
Education and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree with strong academic credentials or a minimum of seven years of legal assistant, administrative assistant, or similar corporate experience required.
- Experience in a law firm setting or other fast-paced legal department setting preferred.

Salary is competitive. The typical base pay range for this nonexempt role is $80,000-105,000 per year.
