The Dallas Office of Hartline Barger, LLP is seeking either a full or part time Nurse Paralegal to join our busy litigation practice. The Nurse Paralegal is a valued member of the litigation team and applies his/her clinical experience to the evaluation and resolution of standard of care, causation, damages, and other medically related issues in medical-legal cases or claims. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, display a positive attitude and recognize and respond appropriately to potentially sensitive situations. Specific responsibilities include:
- Review and analyze medical records which may include hospital records, clinic/physician records, forensic reports, physical therapy/rehab services, home health care providers, psychological/counseling services, and EMS records produced by Plaintiff or obtained by subpoena upon attorney request regarding medical issues.
- Preparation of a detailed medical chronology and summary analysis of all medical records reviewed, with summary updates and additions to the medical chronology as new information becomes available.
- Provide information/education in the summary analysis to assist attorneys with medical facts and issues related to the case.
- Review of medical expert reports as directed by the attorney and assist if requested in identification/designation of possible experts from the available medical records for use at trial.
- Assist in preparation of outline questioning for physician/medical expert depositions or cross examination outline upon attorney request.

Requirements
- Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Texas preferred.
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN) required; B.S. in nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a clinic or hospital; risk management experience is a plus.
- Experience working in a law firm a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Aderant Total Office is a plus.
Candidate must possess and demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with attorneys, staff and third parties, and remain flexible regarding deadline changes due to the dynamics of litigation.
