
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated attorney to join Stellar Senior Living’s Legal Department. The Associate General Counsel will provide strategic legal guidance to support the organization’s business objectives. This is a full-time, in-house role reporting to the General Counsel. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing legal matters across our growing portfolio of senior living communities, while working closely with corporate leadership, operations, and investment partners.

Key Responsibilities
Legal Counsel & Risk Management
- Provide legal advice and support on matters including M&A transactions, regulatory compliance, employment, healthcare law, and general business operations.
- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including transaction documents, vendor contracts, and leases.
- Assess and mitigate legal risks associated with business decisions.
Compliance & Regulatory Affairs
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws relevant to senior living, including healthcare regulations, data privacy, and employment laws.
- Monitor legislative changes and advise leadership on impact.
Dispute Resolution & Litigation Management
- Manage and oversee external counsel in litigation and administrative proceedings.
- Develop strategies for dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration.
Legal Operations
- Manage the company’s contract and licensing database, including uploading, tagging, and organizing executed agreements, licenses, permits, and other documents.
- Maintain legal entity records, including formation documents (e.g., articles of formation, operating agreements), and submit annual filings.
- Help develop scalable systems and tools to support legal workflows, reporting, and internal document management.
Training & Education
- Provide legal training to internal stakeholders on compliance, risk management, and best practices.
- Develop legal resources and templates for use by community and corporate staff.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active and in good standing with the bar of any U.S. state upon hire.
- Admission to the Utah Bar required within the first year of employment.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with a midsize or large law firm.
- Experience in contract drafting and negotiation.
- Experience managing or supporting litigation/dispute resolution.
- Excellent legal research and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-lawyers.
- Ability to work in a hybrid schedule, typically one day per week remote.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in senior living, healthcare, or other regulated industries.
- Familiarity with employment law, healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, licensure), and corporate governance.
- Exposure to real estate transactions.
- In-house counsel experience is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $160,000 – $180,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Bonus: Eligible for quarterly bonuses based on company performance.

- Unlimited PTO: We encourage our team to take time off and recharge—most team members typically take at least 2–3 weeks per year, in addition to major holidays.
